Peter Pett's Commentary on the Bible

Dr. Peter Pett BA BD (Hons-London) DD is a retired Baptist minister and college lecturer. He holds a BD (good honours) from King's College London and was trained at what is now the London School of Theology (formerly London Bible College).

Commentary excludes 1 and 2 Chronicles, Esther, Job, and Psalms 67-150 because the material has not yet been written.

Much study in chiastic structure in OT and NT, something other commentators hit and miss. Pett sometimes overdoes it, but at least consistently attempts to find the central point of a pericope by examining chiasm.

In Genesis (over) stresses emphasis on numerology used by the ancients, so that exact numbers where rarely if ever accurate, but alway symbolic in meaning. His purpose is to disuade young earth insistence on exact chronology.

Thank you! Very helpful.

He is a Calvinist according to studylight. I have a quote of his that I am using in building an argument against Calvinism. Wanted to know more about him.
